About

Peek the World is a free way to look at somewhere else in the world right now. Open the map, press Random Camera, and you land on a live view β€” a crossing in Tokyo, a harbour in Sydney, a waterhole in Namibia β€” with the local time and whether it is day or night there.

The globe can also show what the world is doing at that moment: where it is raining, where it is hot and where it is freezing, which places are in which climate, how far into autumn or spring somewhere is, and the relief of the ground itself. Turn a layer on and the cameras stay where they are β€” the point is to read a claim about a place and then look at it.

It currently carries 406 cameras across 40 countries. Every camera page shows where the stream comes from and links back to the original provider.

We do not host, record or re-broadcast any video. Streams play through their provider's own official player, so views and any revenue stay with the people who run the camera.
